Hey folks! The next meeting is September 7th. It sounds like we'll have some "ambassadors" from the Viaduct at our next meeting. Get out your writing tools and start drafting questions for them! And be ready to answer theirs, as well.
Let's start throwing down suggestions for agenda items. I'll start.
*We need fundraisers. Badly. I'm going to get in touch w/ the attorney general and secretary of state and see what goes into making us official for receiving charitable donations, and how to go about legally soliciting those donations.
*We need to map our resources. Who do we know associated with local businesses? Government? Venues? Other non-profits? Schools? Media (newspapers, TV, radio...anything)? Get ready to write it all down.
*Are there any other non-profits you would want to work with? Or that you wouldn't want to work with, for political or social/ethical reasons? You don't need to respond here, but we do need to discuss so that we can start hammering on some community contacts.

Preliminary agenda (final will be posted Sunday): Club Impact Volunteer Meeting September 7, 2007 7:00 PM, @ Brick City ****
I. Everyone attending sign in. We need to get a little more anal retentive about this both at meetings and at shows. II. Old business (until about 7:30/half hour in) - Recap TomFest stuff - Recap window issue? cleaning stuff - Results of Aug/Sept shows: attendance, feedback from bands and patrons, money stuff - Recap merchandising stuff III. New business (1 hour) - Read announcement from message board, with select responses. It's time for Impact to grab that independence we've been talking about! - Answer questions -- restrict to 20 minutes. - Propose board structure. Committees, interest. - Are there orgs people are opposed to working with? Orgs people *want* to work with? - Outline immediate needs and goals. Temporary venue. Temporary meeting place. Communication -- via some means. Let us know what works for you! Message board is most efficient. Awareness, fundraising, networking. Research: property, permits, requirements, insurance, utilities, everything. What goes into running a venue/leasing a commercial building? What are we looking for in property? Free legal assistance? - Assign tasks. IV. List of upcoming events/due dates. Note progress report days are set on Thursdays so that we can post news and people will have Friday to consider developments before we're all together to discuss on Saturday before shows. V. Recap. Okay, folks. The people @ Brick City are having a barbecue at the building on Monday, so no volunteer meeting. It's been rescheduled for the 14th (or whatever the FOLLOWING Monday is). Since I got no feedback tonight on the agenda, I'm going to call this one operational at the moment. If I do get feedback between now and the meeting, I'll go ahead and amend things.
Be looking for me to post documents and stuff here on the message board as we start moving forward!
