I just wanted to designate some space for people to vent or express whatever, really, and let you guys know that if anything about this is weighing on you or giving you trouble, me and Kerry and Craig are all here for you guys.
I don't know if anyone lives in that area or what, though, and I know that after we had a shooting here (that was far more random than today's), it took me a long time to get over it.
I would appreciate it if we could keep the vengeful sentiments and vitriol to a minimum. I've had about all the eye-for-an-eye stuff I can stand for one day. Other than that, the only thing I ask is that every person's comments be respected. We're looking to support one another, and criticism of others' experience isn't part of that. I hope not to have to mod this discussion too tightly -- with any luck we're all adult and compassionate enough to handle ourselves.
Perhaps in this, we can find a unique way for Impact to help the officers' families, or work with some of the support systems that are likely already in place for them.
(It is possible for people to post anonymously here, isn't it? I want to make sure that people are comfortable posting...)

I'm going to leave this up at the top for a few more days on the general board. If folks don't want to respond here, you can always message me through the board or on email at spankysancho(at)gmail.com.
The ruling about compassion and keeping the retributive stuff to a minimum still stands, but if anyone out there is having any trouble wrapped up in what happened last week, please feel free to air it.
